This is My Celestron NexStar 114GT telescope. You can see I use a sealed lead-acid 7Ah battery as the power source.

The telescope has a keyboard from where you can first align, then control the telescope itself to track various objects. It has a simple display which is useful to select options from a list, but it can't provide a graphical representation of the sky.

KStars is a very good "planetarium-like" program: it lets you see a representation of the sky with all the stars, deep-sky objects, planets and more. It's very easy to find objects.
